Pierre Attiogbe Leads St. Albans To First DCSAA XC Title By Mary Albl of DyeStat It took an extra measure of guts and determination to compete at the District of Columbia State Athletic Association Cross Country Championships on Nov. 5 as teams battled through abnormal late-fall conditions of 70-plus degrees and excessive humidity at Kenilworth Park in Washington, D.C. In the girls race, St. John’s was able to secure the program’s fourth title in five years, scoring 50 points. The team edged out National Cathedral (56 points). St. John’s was paced by senior Caroline Gotzman’s third-place finish (20:41.3) as five runners finished in the top 18. The overall winner on the 5,000-meter course was Georgetown Visitation sophomore Vivian Kelly, who ran 20:12.3. In the boys championship race, senior standout runner Pierre Attiogbe finished first in 15:52.3, while sophomore teammate Sebi Hume was runner-up (16:43.9) to lead St. Albans to the program’s first DCSAA championship. The team tallied a low score of 30 points as all seven runners placed in the top 21. Team Champions St. Albans boys 30 points, St. John’s girls 50 points - RESULTS
