DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA STATE MEET Vivian Kelly, Sebi Hume Win DCSAA Cross Country Finals By Mary Albl of DyeStat What a difference a year made for Georgetown Visitation’s Vivian Kelly. At the District of Columbia State Athletic Association Cross Country Championships held on Saturday Nov. 4, Kelly displayed a year of growth as the junior covered the 5,000-meter course at Kenilworth Park in a time of 18 minutes 27.01 seconds, nearly two minutes faster than her time of 20:12 that won the race in 2022. Her time also was the fastest since 2017. Runner-up was Cecilia Wright of National Cathedral in 19:02. In the team race, St. John’s had three runners finish 5-6-7 to score 44 points and edge out Georgetown Visitation (50 points) for the team championship. It was the fifth title in six years for St. John’s. In the boys race, St. Albans junior Sebi Hume, who was second last year, continued his strong season by winning the title in 15:45.50. That marked 58 seconds of improvement over last year. The team title went to Gonzaga College with 34 points, while St Albans was second (43).
